#Movies

The movie industry seems to be in a very bad place these days.

In the past 3 months, the only movie that I cared to see was #DevilWearsPrada 2 & even that movie wasn't that great & the only upcoming film that I care to see is #DisclosureDay starring Emily Blunt & produced/direct by Spielberg which doesn't hit the screens until Jun 5th.

In the meantime, my local AMC has scheduled the re-screening of a lot of old films which is further proof that the movie industry has no good new ideas.

This is the list of old films on the upcoming schedule:

05/13: Top Gun - 40th Anniversary
05/13: Top Gun Maverick
05/15: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
05/20: Space Jam
06/07: Birdcage
06/21: Oceans 11 - 25th Anniversary
06/26: Jackass - Best & Last
07/05: Citizen Kane - 85th Anniversary

I've got all of these movies (except for Jackass, which isn't my thing) on DVD & don't need to go to see any of them but I may go to see Citizen Kane which I've never seen on a big screen.

@mookie I watched #DevilWearsPrada (DWP) 2 the other day.

I liked it but I thought it was a retread of DWP1 in almost every respect, including Andy's attempt to "save" Amanda from a takeover when Amanda knew what was going on all along.

There is a segment of the #AAPI community that is "up in arms" about the stereotypical casting of the nerdy overachieving Asian American woman as Andy's assistant (a position clearly below her abilities) in the all white female controlled business but, while I can see their point, I'm not as bothered about it (I've seen much worse) as they are.

On the other hand, I haven't heard any outrage from the #LGBTQ community about the stereotypical casting of the overweight gay/fem secretary which was equally concerning. At least they didn't cast, #BowenYang in either role which really would have offended me. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

In any event, I think DWP2 is entertaining & I'd rate it a 6 out of 10

Enjoyed #devilwearsprada 2 but not as much as the original. In my opinion Stanley Tucci steals the show. Could have waited for the #movie to stream. Streep is always a joy to behold.
