I'm normally not the biggest fan of dessert wines, but this little sauternes I had at the end of an amazing dinner was an absolute gem. Simply fantastic - reminding me of mead a bit, with some orange marmalade mixed in, apricot, maybe even a hint of ginger? Wonderful, complex and delicious - perfect end to a spectacular full-course meal.

Tasted this charming vin santo rosato last evening. The pink version, called "ochio di pernice," or eye of partridge, must include at least 50% Sangiovese mixed with the more customary Trebbiano and/or Malvasia. This wine has 150g RS but firm acidity, and it was a good dredge for our orange almond biscotti.
