It's raining. Gosh.

Creativity.

I’ve been playing around with the f-stop on my iPhone 16 Pro a little bit more than usual. I’ve been doing this to spark a feeling of creativity again; I’ve been feeling a bit more repetitive and less motivated than I would like too be feeling.

I snapped this photo during a morning walk. I wanted to highlight the flora in the foreground while still showing the mountains in the background. It’s not my favorite photo. I prefer to have as many things as sharp as possible, but it makes for a little bit more interesting composition.

I also like that we have autumn colors like this well into November. It’s one of the perks of living in the desert.

I’m trying out an application called Picmal for the Mac. This is a tool for compressing audio, video, or images. It’s a nifty little tool. One of its perks is that it’s a one and done purchase, none of the subscription based idiocy that’s running rampant through our tech space these days.

Under the Namibian sun, everything comes alive — even the tiny creatures that blend perfectly into the rocks, visible only to a patient traveler’s eye. Nature reveals its beauty in the smallest details, if only you pause to look.

Post Monsoon.

The forecast has been hinting at thunderstorms and heavy rain for the past few days. Storms in the Pacific Ocean, specifically Priscilla and Raymond, have been projected to throw plenty of moisture into the Sonoran Desert. So Earl and I did a little storm chasing yesterday.

Like most storms in these parts, the storms ended up being mostly unorganized, spotty, and at least in this round, moisture heavy without a lot of lightning. We still made the most of it and had fun going from target area to target area south of Tucson. We didn’t capture much in the way of anything photo worthy, but we did encounter quite a few heavy downpours.

I’m hoping this evening might spark Mother Nature in a way to give us a lightning show.

It's a rainy, cloudy day. My knees hurt. Glad for the rain and hoping there's not much flooding.

A camel caravan crossing the desert feels like a journey back in time – the soft sound of hooves on the sand and the grandeur of rocky cliffs make everything slow down. Here, the desert tells its most beautiful stories.
