I was out in the Anza-Borrego desert around Hawi Vallecitoa while back and came across some potsherds. Not at all unusual in a land that's been home and hearth for thousands of years. This one was a bit different. If you look carefully, you can see the maker's thumb print. Holding it, feeling the touch of a long-dead fellow was a moving experience.
I left it where it belonged.

The green Ocotillo lives in a suburban yard. The second is a wild one that lives in the desert. Looks almost dead after our extra dry winter/spring, but you can see it's still blooming!
I pushed my human out the door early this morning for a hike.
The weird spiky seed pods have opened up to disperse their seeds, for those who were curious about the plants.
