How did EVERYONE forget that trump DEFUNDED social security and #medicare at the end of 2020.

I feel gaslit, no one else talks about this but me. How am I the only person who remembers this??

You guys, towards the end of 2020 he waived the payroll taxes that fund these programs. He claimed it was to help people keep more of their money since everyone was suffering because of Covid.

He promised that if he was reelected for 2020 these payroll tax cuts would become permanent. These are payroll taxes that fund these programs.

My boss continued to do the withholdings, maybe yours did too. Then when he didn’t win, Biden waived any unpaid payroll taxes so nobody would have to pay a lump sum in January to catch up for the stuff that was unpaid.

You can Google it. I know this happened so I won’t go look for a source because I’ve been screaming about this for years yet nobody remembers this but me?

FYI this wasn’t a gift for the people. In case you don’t know how payroll taxes work, for every withholding that comes out of your paycheck your employer has to match that amount and send it to the government with what they withheld on a quarterly basis.

If I remember correctly that’s for 940 or 941, Unless those are California state tax forms.

Regardless, how can these people sit up there and claim that the president doesn’t plan to do anything bad to these programs when he literally #DEFUNDED them in 2020??
