Why I dislike USB-C and thunderbolt so much
Every mobile device I have used (except for 2) have had their USB-C/Thunderbolt port destroyed before anything else (2 exceptions: one device had its screen cracked, while the other exception somehow managed to survive 2 years) because of the need for a plug-in charger. I have destroyed close to 10 charging ports to date (some have been repaired without replacing the device) I have never destroyed the charging port on a laptop, despite the laptops always having a longer lifespan (the laptops always have a non-USB-C charger as well) The charger itself usually lasts longer than the charging port. It is a really good thing wireless charging exists now, or my current mobile devices would have been abandoned over 5 years ago. Allright, so I kind of bought a #Surface Pro 4 by accident on ebay. It was marked "used" and not "defective". Then I read the description, which clearly stated that it was suffering from #flickergate, so it IS #defective.

Yes, I know that this is totally on me, I shouldn't buy suspiciously cheap #hardware when I'm almost asleep in bed.

HOWEVER, I think there is a decent chance to get it running properly with #Linux.

Brought the new computer I spent a lovely hard-earned $2,350 on back to the shop. DRAM LED was steady on, since power on. Wasn't posting, despite trying everything imaginable.
If it's faulty RAM, that can be swapped out. Easy fix.
If the motherboard is faulty/defective, the whole thing has to be replaced (worse case scenario).

I will find out by tomorrow what the deal is, and if they found out the cause of the problem.

This proves newer isn't always better.
