This was my view all weekend, as I took two veterans out on the last deer hunting weekend. They had a blast! No deer were seen until after hunting time was over today on the last day. Six does looking at us like "WTF?!?"

2026 has started off with good fortune for me!

After gratitude/request to the woods and Universe, I harvested a button buck today.

He's going into the freezer and I'm grateful for it.

Not the way I wanted to end 2025, but my ground blind apparently blew away in high wind and I'm going to end my year hunting for it instead.

I feel like that I've been hunting with Murphy all deer season! If it could go wrong it did.

I never thought I would ever say that there were too many deer for me to get to my hunting area... but here we are.

Anywhere that I was allowed to go, I would have boogered grazing deer and blown the spot.

So... try again tomorrow? Better to back off than ruin the spot for a few days.

Yes, some progressive folks hunt...

Deer Hunting Blues:

Last season, I harvested a 10 point buck on my 1st day out. It was amazing luck, hunt of a lifetime.

Since then? Bad luck.

Last year:
- Broken scope mount, found after I missed 2 shots on 2 does
- A thick fog induced wrong-direction sit w/deer behind me.
- Watching bucks and does just out of range several times

This year:
- Missed shot because safety was on and deer surprised me
- Bumping target buck on field at 0430am, he was w/his bred doe.

Ugh!
