So maybe it's the kelp and plankton that make fish taste fishy. Kelp stinks.
Why do fish (and seafood) taste fishy? And why only fish?
They say land lizards like iguana taste like chicken. That makes sense, because birds and lizards are closely related. But rabbit also tastes like chicken. Until you get up to large animals like cattle, where the taste is different. But ducks and game birds taste somewhat different from chicken, and venison tastes somewhat different from beef. It's probably their diet.
