Inspired by @meshe, I have begun moving my back catalog of ~100 "music videos" and live performances from their various corners of the interwebs into a #Peertube instance that I own and control.

If no one is going to see my stuff it had may as well not be seen on *MY* platform, rather than theirs!

Don't hate the media... BECOME THE MEDIA! (as #JelloBiafra famously chanted) resonates louder today than in did in the 90s. We actually have the infrastructure to do it, now, thanks to the internet and the #reclaimedWeb.

We should #walletVote to *stop* support of #elite corporate media and *really support the hell out of* independent investigative journalism.

I've been writing to the editors of the #canadian #msm, but they don't listen. They think they're doing great. They are not and they need to see why.

In 2022 I cut off a BUNCH of services I had paid for, some of them for many years, some I used on occasion but was always loyal. Why have I cut the cord?

Because these companies are killing the planet and everyone on it - and they're using us to do it. I am super not down with paying my measly dollars to the person poisoning me. Because they lack any ethics and over a MILLION people have died due to the negligence of just ONE social media company.

The more I remove, the better I feel.

In 2023 I cut:
- YouTube prime
- Amazon prime
- Google cloud services
- Google APIs
- Google Suite (drive, docs, email)
- Doordash
- The New York Times
- Substack
- Vans (footwear company)

I downloaded all my #amazon #audioBooks into my own library. I replaced all the services I cut with #selfHosted software (where applicable). I channeled my new-found spare money into supporting:

- mstdn.ca & kolektiva.social
- #greenPeace
- Local independant media like @thenarwhal
- Supporting creators directly

The more corporate branded scum I scour off the better I feel!
