I was in several meetings last week which, upon reflection days later, seemed to be centered around someone else's concern that I don't have a solid handle on the problem I've been tasked with solving. I don't think I was able to effectively communicate "no, I understand it just fine, it's just not as simple as you want it to be".
So what does a software architect with a Master's degree in education media design do when faced with a communication gap?
Build visualization tools!
tl;dr: the "problem" I'm solving is building out a new product, with the guidance that I'm supposed to be cynical about reusing existing internal systems, because hand-wavy reasons.
So I thought: "no, let me show you how complex what's in my head really is", and built an entire generalized decision support visualization tool.
For the record: people may take umbrage with my communication style, but I'm actually very good at my job.
