Will someone please explain why the post-election autopsies matter a jot by now? #decision2024

Almost two weeks ago, Americans took to the polls, racking up 76,429,164 votes for #Trump while #Harris received 73,736,923 (according to Wikipedia today).

Since there are about 245,000,000 eligible voters, that makes it about 94,833,913 voters did not vote - the majority of the voting population.

Running those numbers:
Trump - 31.2%
Harris - 30.1%

That makes it 38.7% of the voting population did not vote. That's more than either candidate was able to attain.

Which begs the question - how many more people would have made the effort and how would the election have turned out, if there was one more option:
