We have setup our first bounty as part of #dephcom (we started as #debphoshfund but Open Source Collective suggested a name change and community picked the new name via a poll).

https://opencollective.com/dephcom/projects/pipewire-echo

If you have a Librem 5 and you'd like more choice with Operating System, especially newer versions of software than currently being shipped in PureOS #byzantium or even upcoming #crimson please support.

Echo cancellation with pipewire - Open Collective

Add echo cancellation support with pipewire (Calls on Librem 5 and Jami everywhere)

Another service we maintain - https://codema.in needs to renew its domain as well. Anyone likes to sponsor the domain rewal cost of 800 INR ?

codema.in is an instance of loomio collaborative decision making tool used by @fsci , @prav , @piratesin #debphoshfund etc and open for other communities to join. It comes with many kinds of polls integrated into a forum like interface.

Loomio

Results for first general mobile feature priority poll is now available.

15 of 33 people who joined https://codema.in/debphoshfund/ have participated (45%)

In the next phase of the project, we will look at each of the identified top priority features in depth and have clear technical requirements/explanations.

Then we can look for developers and raise funds.

Fund Phosh on Debian for Mobile

Who are you? What is your goal?As users of Debian on Mobile phones, we want to prioritize and crowd fund its development. Can Debian run on mobile phones? GNOME or KDE (Phosh or Plasma Mobile)?Currently focusing on Mobian and Droidian until Debian itself can be used directly. We will focus our effort with Phosh as the interface since that is the most complete implementation right now. If you like the idea but would like to focus on a different interface, feel free to start a similar process (collect priority items, vote on the proposed items, crowd fund the popular items) for your favorite interface. Why is this important for your group? How are you going to do this?We should be able to develop important missing features and fix regressions to be able to use Debian on our mobile phones. There are also complimentary efforts by Purism and Furi Labs focusing on their own devices support. Can you tell me more?<br>Collect issues that people feel are important. Each thread is an issue and can have multiple tags (affected devices, feature, regression etc) <br>After a month (roughly enough time for many people to propose issues) we start a poll with all suggested items to order the issues by priority<br>Create bounties on opencollective.org for the most popular issues<br>Ask people to donate and look for developers<br>If someone wants to work, they contact us and we mention who is working on the bounty page<br>Once the work is done, they collect the money from Open Collective<br>See https://codema.in/d/pgFEQHaY/debian-on-mobile-feature-prioritizing-and-fund-raising-proposed-structure for more details. Can I join via an app like Element or Conversations? Also join us via any of the two links (they are bridged so joining any one will allow you to talk to people joining via the other link as well. If you are new to XMPP or Matrix, you can learn more from those links as well),<br>XMPP https://xmpp.link/#[email protected]?join<br>Matrix https://matrix.to/#/#debphoshfund:fortysixandtwo.eu<br>I'm new to codema.in/loomio, how do I participate? You will need to create an account and then request to join this group. Loomio is similar to traditional discussion forums with extra features to help decision making (different kinds of polls are available). Each group and sub group can decide their own membership rules.

So far in #debphoshfund our efforts were in identifying priority areas for mobile gnu/linux.

Now we are moving to the next stage, contacting maintainers of specific projects and setting up a bounty / targeted fund raising.

Our first such project is make @organicmaps adaptive / responsive on mobile screen.

Currently gnu/linux frontend is different from android and ios. It is using QT but not yet using kirigami or other options smaller screens.

Convergent UI for Linux with Qt Quick or Kirigami · organicmaps · Discussion #4408

There was a discussion on Flathub repo: flathub/app.organicmaps.desktop#26 (comment) It's better keep it here.

In #debphoshfund project, next poll is picking an #xmpp app.

https://codema.in/p/klGbQYVw/pick-one-xmpp-app-to-support

We won't be able find a single protocol or app for instant messaging, so we will have to support many apps.

#debphoshfund priority features poll is closing in a week.

You need to create an account and request to join this group to participate (it is a self hosted instance of loomio, which is #FreeSoftware under AGPLv3). This is part of an ongoing effort to prioritize missing features on #Debian on mobile devices like Purism Librem 5, Pine Phone, FLX1 or some android devices with Debian based ROMs.

Ideal maps/navigation app features

We started a poll to pick a maps app here https://codema.in/d/phU1JlaV/pick-and-fund-a-maps-appBut @Guido raised a concern here https://codema.in/d/phU1JlaV/pick-and-fund-a-maps-app/33 about the possibility that the developers of the app that we pick may not be interested in a top priority item for us. So lets have this poll in parallel to see which are the top priority items for us and make sure the app we pick is in alignment. So please suggest the most important features a maps app should have, I think we will keep a week's time to collect the requirements and then open the poll to order the suggestions based on priority.

We started a poll earlier at #debphoshfund to pick a maps/navigation app. @agx suggested we come up with a list of desired features and check with the maintainers of the app we pick that they are in alignment and open to accepting contributions for those to avoid conflicts later or having to fork. See if we missed listing any important features.

We have been collecting priority missing items for using a GNU/Linux OS on smart phones for daily driving for a few days now.

We had an #XMPP group as well https://xmpp.link/#[email protected]isroot.org?join

which is now bridged to #Matrix https://matrix.to/#/#debphoshfund:fortysixandtwo.eu

Some people were reluctant to join codema.in so you might want to join via XMPP or Matrix to get updates, though polls would still happen via codema.in (tracking this in multiple places would be too much work).

XMPP Invitation

First poll of #debphoshfund (Fund #Debian on Mobile with #Phosh as interface choice) is about picking a maps/navigation app and so far #GNOME Maps is leading the poll with 27% votes and Organic Maps got 23%. This poll is open till September 24th and anyone interested in a good maps/navigation app for GNU/Linux on mobile is invited to join this group and vote https://codema.in/d/phU1JlaV/pick-and-fund-a-maps-app #mobian Only a small number of people have voted so far, more participation would be better.
Pick and fund a maps app

We need to pick one maps app from available apps - Pure Maps, GNOME Maps, osmin, Organic Maps. I think Pure Maps has the best features right now.
