I’ve always admired the "human-first" philosophy of the legendary Vancouver-based Libranet Linux and Debian. Since the original Libranet Linux distro from 2003 is no longer with us, I wanted to create a more modern option for users who miss that classic Canadian "Easy Everything" experience.
I’m excited to share Libranet-Maple—a independent spiritual successor built for 2026! It’s not the original, but it’s a tribute designed to carry the torch of simplicity and speed into the Wayland era.

Why have there been an insane amount of updates to libraries over the past couple of days on Debian Sid? Is there some low level change happening?

So... most gnome apps are failing to open on my debian sid daily driver. So... pgadmin4 won't open to remotely edit my company database. So... I have learned how to add a column to a table in my remote database using psql locally. Yup, I'm a hacker.

tried a thinking outta da box alternative strategy. though i absolutely do wanna have a working Arch DB for many reasons, my immediate need is to be able to use #veracrypt. so, asks self, can i find an acceptable alternative app to VC, which is available in my working Distroboxes of #DebianSid, #FedoraRawhide, & #openSUSETumbleweed? yep, there's #zulucrypt, which til now i'd entirely forgotten, & whose latest version is in FedoraRawhide. okey dokey, let's crack on with that!

Can someone explain #opensuse #tumbleweed to me? I had the absolute worst time trying to install #nvidia drivers. #yast was worst package manager experience I've had. Trying to understand why folks recommend this distro over #arch or #debiansid. #linux

@GaymerGeek Disclaimer: I don't like #canonical. You should try #debiantrixie with #cinnamon, #gnome, or #kde. If you need bleeding edge, #debiansid is far more stable than its #unstable tag suggests. Vanilla #arch (with archinstall), or #archbased like #cachyos are far more approachable than internet neckbeards would like you to believe. Ubuntu is a start, but not an end. ❤️

@snake I prefer #arch as my primary and #debiansid is a close second. I did swap out my default arch kernel for #cachyos's kernel and have had pretty good luck gaming. #nixos is great in theory, but I always run into some goofy issue that turns into a dealbreaker, primarily #appimages or other random tools I need.

@paulhulford You'll grow out of it. Eventually you'll find one that fits you. I hopped around for three months until I landed on one and found a few favorites. But because I have a laptop and desktop with different architectures(Intel desktop/AMD laptop), I decided to use the one that worked on both of them 100% without compromise. Top 3 were #arch, #debiansid, and #nixos. My favorite being NixOS, but gaming issues meant I stuck with Arch.

Seit ein paar Tagen läuft #pikaos auf meinem #xps9305
Inzwischen habe ich meine eigenen Shortcuts eingerichtet und meine eigenen Wallpapers hinterlegt.

Das System gefällt mir soweit ganz gut. Vor allem #quickshell ist Bombe! Hoffentlich ist dies bei #opensuse auch bald verfügbar.

Mal gespannt wie stabil #debiansid ist..
