One thing that strikes me in Trump's way of talking – "They're eating the pets. Of the people that live there." — is the use of "that" instead of "who". The people "that" live there, not the people "who" live there.

He's talking about people as if they were objects.

Political debates would be much more interesting if failing a fact check meant the candidate had to answer a follow up question from a lion—face-to-face, of course.
