Poignant opinion piece:
"I'm dying of ALS – and my wife has to watch me suffer. Change the law for people like us.”
Having been with a friend as he "voluntarily died" from #ALS, I wholeheartedly support this.
I wasn't aware of this organisation, but it seems worth supporting:

I was afraid to read this one. I thought it would tell me horrible things. But it’s not bad.
Incidence and Prevalence of Reported Euthanasia Cases in Belgium, 2002 to 2023
“Meaning These findings suggest that the euthanasia safeguards implemented in Belgium appear effective, as patterns in euthanasia reflect the initial effects of legislation, harmonization across subgroups, and the impact of an aging population.”

Delaware Online says HB140 End of Life Options bill is the Right Thing to Do!
It's all about patient choice and autonomy.
Republicans, who always tout ‘freedom’ were vehemently against HB140 (freedom only for things they support, like guns and no vaccines or masks!)

Delaware House of Representatives passes Medical Aid in Dying bill HB 140. Now goes to the Senate and with passage, signature by the governor. ❤️
It never fails to horrify me that some feel that we should be far more merciful to our pets and animals than we are to ourselves and our fellow human beings.
The right to #deathwithdignity when, where, and how we determine it is an essential human right.
Today, I sent a letter to my MP in support of legislation to amend Canada’s assisted dying law and make advance requests for MAID legal. If you want to send your own letter, visit @dyingwithdignity.ca :

My mother, Dr Sarah Traister Moskovitz, died on 1 September 2024 through Medical Aid in Dying (MAID). It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. She was 97. This is the story of how she came to end her own life.

"No, thank YOU" ;-) for bringing that article to attention.
I've opted to write a reply to the columnist, using [email protected], as a result.
I want to suggest to that columnist to watch what Vice Presidential candidate #TimWalz says about #politicians & #government in general having a say in #reproductiverights because I see a parallel to the #right to #DeathWithDignity. Tim sums it up nicely, I think. #PBS
@AmerLiberal Agreed. Here, in Oregon, the state has had a #DeathWithDignity Act on the books since October 27, 1997. I'm not sure how I feel about Governments mandating individual rights in general, but in this case, I'm satisfied to have the state somewhat protect an individual's right to their own physical autonomy. I question gov't setting ANY conditions, just to appease religion.

Oregon's Death with Dignity Act allows terminally-ill Oregonians to end their lives through the voluntary self-administration of lethal medications, expressly prescribed by a physician for that purpose.
