Love the positioning of this bench in amongst the beech trees in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow. It's a great place to sit and listen to the birds singing all around you.

I came across this sign during today's dog walk in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow. I don't know exactly what it is you need to beware of, but it certainly explains why they recommend you keep to the designated path!

I love a good pun for the name for a dog walking service, and this one I came across in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow today is the best I've seen in a while!

A brick made at the Gartshore Brickworks in Kilsyth revealed by the current very low waters in the River Kelvin in Dawsholm Park in the West of Glasgow. This brickworks was founded by William Baird and Co in 1867, and was still in operation at least into the 1980s.

A Highland Cow in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow. Part of the Pollok Park herd, possibly the only council-owed Highland Cows in the world. The herd started almost 200 years ago when cattle were brought down from the Scottish Highlands by the Maxwell Family to graze the lands arouns Pollok House. When the estate was donated to the city of Glasgow in the 1960s, the cattle came with it.

I think Glasgow might be the only place in the world where you can find Highland cows grazing in front of the hulkings remains of disused Victorian gas holders!

There are few things in the world as green as newly unfurled beech leaves in Spring. This was the scene I found myself immersed in at Dawsholm Park in the West of Glasgow during yesterday's morning dog walk.

Post Office Telegraph access cover in the Dawsholm Park area of Glasgow. The Post Office inland telegraph system began in 1870, and finally came to an end more than a century later in 1982. I've no idea how old this access cover, but my feeling is that its quite early (later ones tended to be made with concrete) and may have originall contained wooden 'cobbles' in the gaps between the metal.

Loving the beech trees in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow at the moment. They seem to be putting on a particularly spectacular show this autumn.
