Grateful Dead announces ‘Dave’s Picks Vol. 54’, featuring 1973 Baltimore concert – KSHE 95
David Lemieux said he picked these to showcase the original five-man lineup that played between Mickey's departure in February and Keith's joining in October, 1971.
Was going to write about the spareness of the sound, but there's only a drummer missing from the February 1970-February 1971 line up. And I've never noticed the near-lack of keyboards on those classic April, 1971 Fillmore East shows.
Plus, we get the rest of the 10-24-70 show that was released in part on #DavesPicks, Vol. 48. Which is nice.
Here's #AlbumArt with the venue and date for the 10-24-70 bonus tracks. Mastodon compresses large images, but there's an uncompressed 3000x3000 .jpg here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-XQTjPqnyZocEpazV6zUmFtAnQYeCoFQ/view
Dave’s Picks 50 (!) No. 21487 has landed in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Seriously, how fun is it to be a fan of this band?!
And yeah, that’s happening. The 1990-09-18 is shaping up to be just as enjoyable, though the decision to filter-mangle Bob’s vocals in a couple of places during Desolation Road always stuck me as odd.
