For Monday, listen to Miles Davis' "He Loved Him Madly," from "Get Up With It" (1974). Begins ambiently, then develops a slow pulse. Haunting.

Richie Beirach (1947 â 2026)
https://jazzpages.de/richie-beirach-1947-2026/Ended Wednesday and welcomed Thursday after a swim with The Unreal Realm by Michel Banabila, released on Tapu Records in 2024.
"This album gathers several of Dutch composer Michel Banabilaâs recent choreography scores and collaborations. The title track, an ominous piano crawl, serves as a good intro which doesnât give away whatâs yet to come, which can be quite surprising. âLineageâ, featuring kamancheh (an Iranian bowed string instrument) by Salar Asid, comes from the score for Yin Yueâs choreography Somewhere, and it begins as an elegant neo-classical piece before changing directions and becoming submerged under rushing waves of electronics, ending up a sort of aquatic post-industrial wash..."

Napanoch (Quest, Quest - 1981)
Lookout Farm is an album by American jazz saxophonist Dave Liebman recorded over two days in October 1973 and released on ECMâhis debut for the label.
Tyran Grillo wrote for ECM Reviews:
Saxophonist, flutist, and all-around wunderkind Dave Liebmanâwho only last year received an NEA Jazz Masters lifetime achievement award for his tireless efforts in music and instructionâmade his ECM debut with Lookout Farm, his first of only two albums for producer Manfred Eicher as leader (the other being the enthralling Drum Ode; he would also guest on Steve Swallowâs Home some six years later) and a trendsetter for fledgling improvisers seeking their voices in the seventies and beyond. Here, he is joined by a telepathic ensemble that includes regulars Richie Beirach and John Abercrombie, in addition to a pointed percussion section...
