Approaching Grindslow Knoll, looking towards the southern edge of the Kinder Plateau with a range of warm colors rare to be seen in December. #hiking #peakdistrictnationalpark #darkpeak #nature

Grindslow Knoll hides its peak in low clouds. Reflection of the sun on the clouds caused a bit of a white-out in the image. You can see the serptine ascent on the right shoulder disappearing behind the curve, that is where you're then treated to the view of the plateau's edge. #darkpeak #peakdistritct #hiking #nature #landscape #clouds #uk #derbyshire

Crowden Tower looms large over the Crowden Brook approach. It's a natural gritstone formation some 20m high, from this distance it looks like a medieval castle. The approach can be done in two routes, one zigzag hiking route to the left, humbly passing under the tower (while you catch your breath, because it's 20-30% incline in bits). The other follows the brook itself and leads to a grade 1 scramble, a nicer adventure (but not when very wet). #derbyshire #darkpeak #peakdistrict #hiking #landscapephotography
Looking south from Kinder Downfall towards the White Peak ridges (far in the distance). Rainclouds are rolling in and the wind at the edges can make it quite uncomfortable to linger long here (note the ripples in the puddle). The drop between plateau and valley is +- 300m. #derbyshire #peakdistrict #darkpeak #nature #hiking #landscapephotography
Kinder downfall, or the waterfall of the Kinder river of the plateau. On gloomy windy days after heavy rain you can see a stronger waterfall being blown backwards up onto the plateau. #darkpeak #peakdistrictict #nature #hiking #riverphotography #derbyshire
