Lately, I have been playing Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster on and off after picking it up when it was released two years ago. I am reminded how difficult games were back in the day. I wrote a post about my experience tonight on Mission 4 in the game and why it took me an hour of running back and forth to finish the mission.

The original versions of Dark Forces and Outlaws have been delisted from Steam and GOG (along with Star Wars: Rebellion too for some reason).

This sucks. The remasters are great but the originals should be available too.

Also... why was Rebellion delisted? Bizarre.

RIP to William C. Dietz, author of the Dark Forces trilogy of novellas adapting the adventures of Kyle Katarn.

He was also known for writing one of the first Halo novels, Halo: The Flood.

Looks like the first game I'm going to finish in 2026 - not that I usually keep track - is going to be Star Wars Dark Forces Remastered. I've never played this deep into the Dark Forces and with just one level left out of 14, I might as well finish it off.
