Charles Bradley “No Time for Dreaming” (2011)

Somehow a record was made in 2011 that sounds like James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Al Green all at once. It sounds like a classic soul record from the 70s. And what makes it feel authentic instead of a carbon copy of the past is Charles Bradley himself, may his soul rest in peace. I can’t believe I got to see him play twice before he passed.

15 years ago today, this album by the magnificent Sharon Jones was released, mastered by yours truly directly off of 1/4" 15ips 2-track analog tape reels at the original Total Sonic Media studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
