Trying to install #macOS #Monterey in #VirtualBox…

… is a lot harder than installing any current Linux anywhere.

Why doing so? Well, because of these suckers called #Audinate and the other suckers called #Microsoft. In Europe, #Windows10 gets occasional updates still, and the combination of an updated Windows 10, VirtualBox and #DanteController by Audinate has quit working… it had worked for many years, but they managed to destroy that. It's actually almost the only program I need to run on Windows directly, because it does not work in #Wine. But now I can't.

Dante Controller runs well on my old MacBook Pro 2017, though… on Monterey.

So, after resolving the issues of not having any drives by using the disk utility, the installer now says:

System rebooted automatically due to panic.

… so afraid.

Anyone out there with #dante, #yamaha TF1 #mixingconsole and TIO1608-D knowledge?
Can someone explain me why the TF1 can't recognize my stagebox anymore? Nothing changed. Working before for weeks/years (fix installation), switched on the next day it stopped working.
Quick config doesn't work. Stagebox sync LED is red. Dante manager shows both devices in sync, everything green, channel mapping looks good. TF1 is clock master, stagebox clock slave.
But the TF1 shows no stagebox in the slot setup.

Has anyone expierenced the same? Any ideas?

🧵 So, more grumbling regarding #Windows11…

… it's simply not bearable. My wife is about to buy a used #MacBook, since she doesn't want to use #Linux. And Windows 11 is also not an option for her, who is btw not a computer nerd.

It's crazy, because like some years ago, #Apple were the bad guys hindering people to use open source, and they still are… still trying to lock everybody in into their Apple universe. It's just that #Microsoft has become so much worse.

And Apple seem to know that people hate Windows 11, and the new #MacBookNeo addresses exactly this. Cheaper price point than usual, serviceable with a screw driver, very long battery life. MacOS.

As far as I am concerned, even #Windows10 in #Virtualbox becomes enshittified with its very last updates, programs just stop working, most importantly #DanteController that just crashes… I am considering running #macOS in VirtualBox now. It feels quite sick.

#DanteController (ältere Version) tut nun in #Windows10 in #Virtualbox wieder nicht mehr.

Dass #Microsoft es schafft, das alte OS noch durch Updates (ja, Win10 kriegt bei mir noch welche) so zu ändern, dass Software nicht mehr tut, ist das Blödheit oder Böswilligkeit?

Also in Zukunft mit 2 Laptops zu #Veranstaltungstechnik-Jobs reisen.

Nach 5 Stunden Galama mit #Windows11 gestern weiß ich auch nimmer, was ich da noch denken soll.

Schon wieder ein Shitpost. Aber es ist einfach so: Ich werde behindert in meinem Berufsalltag. Weil laufend was nicht mehr geht, was vorher ging, und immer stecken neuere Versionen dahinter, die selten neue Funktionen haben.

Die Window-Software zum Steuern meiner #AllenAndHeath-Gerätschaften läuft anstandslos in #Wine…
