Leider schon der letzte Tag zum Tauchen. Morgen geht es wieder in die kalte Heimat.
Am letzten Tag haben wir uns was ganz besondere gegönnt. Ein Tauchtrip nach Dahab zum Canyon und der legendären Blue Hole, bei der die Apnoetaucher und Weltrekordjägern. Ein traumhaft schöner Tauchplatz, an dem es über 250 Meter senkrecht in die Tiefe geht.
Hier wurde übrigens auch 2014 der aktuelle Weltrekord im Gerätetauchen mit 332,35 Metern aufgestellt!

Seriously, of the 100+ confirmed and 250+ estimated deaths at the #BlueHole in #Dahab NONE were "unavoidable"...

Rules exist for a reason:

• I've seen people go from cool to YOLO within 5m.

• NEVER dive alone - seriously, DON'T!

• One does not simply go beyond 40m with a single 12l air tank - not even Cousteau!

• When Dive Instructors turn you away as a fellow dive instructor, there's really good reasons for it!

I've dived about a dozen times at the #BlueHoleDahab but I wasn't 'suicidal', and stayed above 40m.

• Because it's not worth dying for that shit!

EVERY SINGLE DIVER WHO WENT DOWN THERE I've met told me it's underwhelming af.

• Like shure it's bragging rights for #TechDivers to have a "triple digit dive" (>100m) or even "double triple digit drive" (>100m & >100min total dive time) at that place but all you see at the bottom is silt, dropped lead belts, and dead bodies stuck in crevices...

After all the nice part isn't the actual blue hole, but the outside reef where you have beautiful corals at 5-25m depth and excellent visibility.
