CBDC stands for Central Bank Digital Currency. In simpler terms, we could call it ''programmable money''.
It allows governments to put an expiration date on your money, so consumers are more incentivised to spend.
Or a limit on how many pints you can buy, so you live healthier.
Or how many flight tickets you're allowed to purchase, so you don't emit 'too much CO2'.
In other words, programmable money is the dream of power-hungry politicians and government worshippers.
But it's a nightmare for anyone who values privacy and financial autonomy.
What to do? Keep on using cash and avoid programmable money like it's the plague. #cash #digital #cashless #currency
