Filin—derived from Feeling—is a very "romantic style" album of ballads: think Dexter Gordon, Cannonball Adderly, Ben Webster, et al.
Aldana is joined by Cuban-born Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano), Peter Washington (bass) and Kush Abadey (drums), and Cécile McLorin Salvant (v) on a few tracks.
It's a terrific record from start to finish: great tunes, beautifully played, and well recorded.

Here's some Cuban Jazz for your Monday. Pianist Chucho Valdés was in town for a Mother's Day concert with his band, Irakere. Chucho is in his 80's but that didn't stop him from getting up from the piano and dancing when the music was in full swing. I'm hoping when I'm his age I can still walk much less dance! Enjoy.
