Tell us about a crew member who made a cruise unforgettable — by name if you remember. These are the stories that never make it into the brochures, but they're the reason people come back.
The only passenger ship that has transited the Northwest Passage commercially is Crystal Serenity, in 2016. She carried 1,070 passengers plus crew, required ice-strengthening modifications, and was escorted by a Canadian icebreaker for the duration. Should cruise lines be permitted in Arctic routes at all? The deepest-drafting passenger ship in active service is Queen Mary 2, at 10.3 metres (33 ft 10 in). That's why she can't enter many smaller cruise ports — she physically cannot sit at their berths. The new mega-ships (Icon, Wonder) are much wider but actually draw less water. Engineering changed what "big" means. What's a port you'd love to see QM2 visit that she realistically never will?
