Two years ago I’d not have believed it. A year ago I’d like to have been able to believe it. Today started with me taking part in my gym’s #CrossFitOpen contest (a mix of people of all ages (18 to 70+) and all abilities (me to them)) and I’ve just come back from a 6k run (the change in the weather and some sunshine is too big a pull to go #running after all the recent rain). I guess it’s never too late to change your lifestyle.

💥 284 reps. 12 minutes. One 66-ball wall trap at the midpoint.

* 3 Dumbbell Hang Cleans + Shoulder to Overhead
* 15m walking lunges

Every round, add 3 burpees and 3 db hang cleans and shoulder to overheads.

I went with the scaled version, which means 15kg dumbbell.

Finished 162 reps. Iz dead.

Mobility:
- 5/5 down dog to twisted lizard (World's greatest stretch)
- 5/5 supine foot to opposite hand
- 5/5 90-90s
- 10 air squats
- 10 narrow stance air squats
- 10 split stance air squats

Skill: pistol squats 🤣
- Balance pistol squats
- Pistol squats to box
- Ring assisted pistol squats

Workout: #CrossFitOpen 20.4 (seriously modified, my version below)
- 30 box step ups
- 15 clean & jerks (20kg)
- 30 box step ups
- 15 clean & jerks (20kg)
- 30 box step ups
- 10 clean & jerks (23kg)
- 30 pistol squats to box
- 10 clean & jerks (23kg)
- 30 pistol squats to box
- 5 clean & jerks (26 kg)
- 30 pistol squats to box
- 5 clean & jerks (26kg)

Finished in 18:40 (time cap 20:00), was a heavy one even heavily modified as I did.

Have been watching youtube videos of the #CrossFitOpen, this is the first year I've really had any interest.
Watching some videos of workout 24.1, I wondered if I could find our dumbells.
I typically do exclusively body weight exercise, but we have some that we got for wrist strength training, so on the lighter side of things.
Found a 15 lb one, which I decided was good enough to give a try to the workout, just to see what it was like.
So, after acrobatic practice today, I gave it a shot.

It kicked my *ass*. I think managed 144 reps? I was completely out of breath and my arms were shaking for quite some time after.

I have been telling myself that I need more cardio for ages, and while I'm not joining a crossfit gym, I may start pushing myself to do some HIIT work.
