@dirk_lotze (2/3) #CrashNotAccident beschreibt im englischsprachigen diesen Umstand & ist umfangreich aufgearbeitet:
https://www.portland.gov/transportation/vision-zero/news/2023/3/23/why-we-say-crash-not-accident

Im deutschsprachigen auch:

https://www.veloplan.de/berichterstattung-zu-verkehrskollisionen-verzerrte-wahrnehmung/

Why we say “crash” not “accident”

We’re inviting our community to change the way we talk about crashes, and in doing so, change the broad cultural perception that crashes are inevitable. A Vision Zero approach refuses to accept traffic violence as a byproduct of “just the way things are.” So, will you join us?

@doener #crashNotAccident , these deaths are preventable results of intentional decisions, not "oopsies"

Forgot I got a picture of this.

This house being moved made me late for work. No mobile phone at the time, I had to call from a pay phone and tell them why I was running late. A house was blocking my way, including side streets blocked.

Years later, where it ended up, it became law offices. A lawyer there helped me win a civil law case since a speeding and failing to yield motorist crashed into me.

But for an agency whose entire mission is ostensibly protecting and serving the public--and to investigate failures of that mission that result in harm!--to pre-emptively label every hit-and-run an accident? That's not ok. Not even kind of ok. #CrashNotAccident
and sure, maybe there are situations in which the driver truly did not know they hit someone, and thus were not actually fleeing you might be tempted to call that an accident it's not #CrashNotAccident
It's none of these, of course, but "HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT????!!!" Pray tell, what part of hitting someone with your car and then fleeing the scene is an accident? #CrashNotAccident
