So how did I handle the longest leg of my trip, the flight from LHR-SFO with #CovidConscious #Travel ?
- excellent, fresh N95 mask (& a spare, unneeded this time but comforting)
- strategic hydration & food consumption outdoors when possible, or with lower CO2 readings when not
- Always Be Charging general habit for supportive devices mini HEPA filter and CO2 monitor
- communication & appreciation with flight attendants
- dress for comfort & be kind to yourself; it's tiring enough unmasked
I am delighted to report that at no point during my 18 day international trip was I harassed, questioned, or even given 'stink-eye' (as my Hawaiian friends would say) for wearing a mask. ๐ท
Not at SFO or ATL or MAN or LHR or the flights from them.
Not in big cities or towns. Not enjoying fish tacos in outdoor seating in Decatur, Georgia, or Shrewsbury, England.
If you're scared to go out masked, give it a try. Stay cheerful, be kind, and the world may reflect it.
Vaccines are like seatbelts and airbags, masks are like responsible driving.

#CovidConscious and other mask-wearing folks, there is a post-security place to get outside air in LHR Terminal 2. It's by gate A1 and is the no-smoking passage leading to the also-screened-in smoking area.
It's not ideal, being next to a lot of ground crew vehicle activity, but if you're avoiding airborne disease risks in crowds, it is a location where you can take your mask off, drink a bottle of water, and have a snack after you are through security.
