Attacco con drone alla base di Ali Al Salem in Kuwait, dove è di stanza personale italiano. "Questa mattina la base di Ali Al Salem, in Kuwait, che ospita capacità e personale americano e italiano, è stata oggetto di un attacco con drone che ha colpito uno shelter, all'interno del quale era ricoverato un velivolo a pilotaggio remoto della Task Force Air italiana, andato distrutto", ha dichiarato il Capo di Stato Maggiore della Difesa, Generale Luciano Portolano in un anota. "Ho immediatamente sentito il Colonnello Mangini per sincerarmi delle condizioni del personale italiano presente nella base. Al momento dell'attacco tutto il personale era in sicurezza e non è stato coinvolto. Dell'accaduto ho prontamente informato il Ministro della Difesa Crosetto, col quale sono in costante contatto per l'aggiornamento continuo della situazione di tutti i nostri contingenti all'estero", continua l'alto esponente delle forze armate. 
"Il dispositivo italiano della Task Force Air era stato preventivamente alleggerito nei giorni scorsi, nell'ambito delle misure adottate in relazione all'evoluzione del quadro di sicurezza nell'area. Il personale rimasto nella base è impiegato per lo svolgimento delle attività essenziali della missione. Il velivolo colpito costituiva un assetto indispensabile per lo svolgimento delle attività operative ed era rimasto schierato nella base al fine di garantire la continuità delle operazioni. La situazione è costantemente monitorata dal Capo di Stato maggiore della Difesa e dal Comando Operativo di Vertice Interforze (#COVI), che mantengono un contatto continuo con i contingenti sul terreno", conclude Portolano.

Drone attack on the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, where Italian personnel are stationed. “This morning, the Ali Al Salem base in Kuwait, which hosts US and Italian capabilities and personnel, was the target of a drone attack that struck a shelter, within which was housed an Italian Air Force unmanned aircraft of the Italian Air Task Force, which was destroyed,” stated the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Luciano Portolano in a note. “I immediately contacted Colonel Mangini to ascertain the condition of the Italian personnel present at the base. At the time of the attack, all personnel were safe and unharmed. I promptly informed Minister of Defence Crosetto of the incident, with whom I am in constant contact for continuous updates on the situation of all our contingents abroad,” the senior military official continued. “The Italian component of the Italian Air Task Force had been reduced in the days prior, as part of the measures adopted in relation to the evolution of the security situation in the area. The personnel remaining at the base are employed to carry out essential mission activities. The aircraft struck was an indispensable asset for the execution of operational activities and had been deployed to the base to ensure the continuity of operations. The situation is constantly monitored by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Joint Inter-Force Operational Command (#COVI), which maintain continuous contact with the contingents on the ground,” Portolano concluded.
