The ultimate solution to #covetousness and #greed is #contentment.  If one is satisfied and can enjoy what one has, then one has no need to strongly desire what one does not have.

The world would have us focus on what we lack and to crave it strongly.  As Christians, we do better to look at what we have as blessings from God and God as our Source of #abundance.

God condemned #covetousness, both under the Law and in Christ.

Covetousness involves a deep and strong craving and desire for something.

Another way of translating "covetousness" is "greed," and we are far more familiar with "greed" than "covetousness."

#Greed is never justified or commended in Scripture; only condemned.

A quotation from Kit Marlowe

FERNEZE: Excesse of wealth is cause of covetousnesse:
And covetousnesse, oh ’tis a monstrous sinne.

Christopher "Kit" Marlowe (1564-1593) English dramatist and poet
The Jew of Malta, Act 1, sc. 2, l. 124ff (c. 1590)

WIST Quotations
Is coveting your neighbor's possessions *really* stealing? It's easy to twist the law and appear righteous, but Martin Luther warns against the hidden injury of covetousness. Are you *actually* honest? #Covetousness #MartinLuther #Theology #Honesty #Ethics #Morality
Warning: Chasing possessions can lead to emptiness. One's life is not defined by material wealth. Are you prioritizing stuff over what truly matters? Don't get lost in the pursuit of things; find lasting value. #Materialism #Covetousness #SpiritualGrowth #AbundanceMindset #FinancialFreedom

The Tenth Commandment’s focus on internal desires sets it apart as a profound statement about human nature and God’s expectations.
