This view shows a much smaller mound on top of one of the old Peonies- those are also July bloomers here. Above it is a florist #pussywillow which *is* showing signs of life! (catkins but not yet flowering)

About 25-30cm of new snow, already compressing / getting heavier! with mid day temperatures today a little above freezing + strong sun.
The big mound on the driveway was topped up- around 6 feet high, not as high as the last big one in March. It's on top of a large old perennial bed, usually some of the last snow to melt, but the plants there are mid to late summer things (Veronica, Achillea, Lychnis, Rosa rugosa) so they're fine.

View outside- I haven't been out to see exactly how deep it is- even though it's still below freezing, it is forecast to go a little above, and the sun not quite showing through the cloud fully yet is enough to start compacting the snow! I'd say we got 25-30cm. Shovelling yet to come, hopefully it won't have got too much wetter by then...lol (forecast for temps next 5 days: 9-20C 48-68F) its gonna be wet and messy, esp the gravel road..

Visitors can watch the whole process - from bonding and feeding to the careful checks the team carry out to make sure every lamb is warm, dry, and thriving. The air was a mix of soft bleats, warm hay and that unmistakable early‑spring light pouring through the barn roof. After a long winter, the whole farm feels like it’s waking up again, full of new life and new energy. You can fuel up at the cafe too! 📌 Rand Farm Park, Rand, Lincoln, LN8 5NJ What you’ll see this season: • Ride the heights of their Skyrider • Practice your aim at archery • Take a tractor ride • Play silos, go-karts, fun golf and more outdoor play! • Indoor play areas with slides and balls you can target at people! • Indoor lambing – as a lowland Lincolnshire farm, Rand lambs earlier in warm, straw‑lined barns • Heat lamps glowing to keep newborns warm in their first hours • Newborn lambs taking their first steps within minutes of birth - there was a live birth when we were there! • Bottle‑fed lambs getting extra care from the farm team plus you can take part in feeding them too • Live demonstrations and explanations from staff throughout the day - like being able to hold the guinea pigs and bunnies The Farm has a huge variety of residents! Whether they are in the Big Barn, the outdoor paddocks, or the "small furry" section, here is a list of the animals you can meet: The Big Barn • Sheep & Lambs: Seasonal newborns + the famous Swiss Valais Blacknose. • Goats: Anglo Nubians, Pygmies and Golden Guernseys. • Cows: Jersey and shaggy Highland cows. • Pigs: Friendly residents and seasonal piglets. Field Friends • Donkeys & Ponies: Look for Charlie the donkey and Billy the pony. • Alpacas: The curious paddock residents. A question appeared on the path before me yesterday, written in a puddle through fresh snow: "Is it Spring?" (yes, it really is, this is one of the true faces of spring here...lol)
does this count as #pareidolia ? #snow #Alberta #Canada #April #spring #CountryLiving #photography
From a log I was cutting the other day-- Buddha holding a cauldron?? Image slightly enhanced to make the subject clear, but it was quite evident in person..
EDIT: alternate take- my friend just saw it and said the figure is 'sending out powers' (think casting magic spells or opening a portal or...)
