Il Regolamento dell’Unione Europea sulla Deforestazione e il Caffè Costaricano

The European Union Regulation on Deforestation and Costa Rican Coffee

To adapt to these new rules, Costa Rica has developed a pilot program with the country’s largest coffee producer cooperative, launching shipments of “deforestation-free” certified coffee to Europe in March 2024. This program has provided tools and training to support farmers, processors, and exporters, thereby facilitating compliance with EUDR laws.

Costa Rica has gained an initial advantage thanks to its existing sustainability standards. However, experts warn that other countries with lower standards may have more difficulty replicating this success.
