These quirky fishes tell wondrous stories of camouflage and male pregnancy, mate fidelity and ambush predation, stealthy swimming and meditative stillness. These are the unsung heroes of our seas. Help us amplify their stories with your creativity.
Cornetfish has gray and green alternating stripes. But a few seconds later it turns all gray with faint green/pink markings. They can rapidly change their coloration in response to terrain or threats.
Seen at 69 Beach on Big Island, Hawaii on 4/5/24.
