Why haven't we been able to crack this ISP issue yet? Every time someone creates a really great ISP project, they get bought out by the incumbents and shut down. This time we're not just going to create another ISP, we're going to create an app for individuals to monetize their own network infrastructure and they'll build the ISP.
It's Uber for data, except Comcast is the taxi company.
We agitate by supporting #coopISP
We agitate by borrowing movies from the library. We agitate by sharing media with one another. We agitate by switching back to OTA TV. We agitate by using TOR. We agitate by reading and writing fanfic. We agitate by taking money and power out of the pockets of ISPs and content providers, and putting that money and power in to the hands of our communities.
Here to offer my time and effort to any municipal ISP projects forming or underway in Culver City or Los Angeles proper. Although I primarily work in product management, I do have some IT background.
There are already a few municipal ISPs in the Los Angeles area (Santa Monica and Glendale come to mind). #coopISP
