The new talk I made (“Using OpenStreetMap to Aid My Weird Lifestyle”) seems to be doing well! 🙂
I presented it at Essentia.dev for Document Freedom Day in March, and yesterday at IIIT Lucknow for LucknowFOSS.
- It has a short and sweet runtime of around 20 minutes.
- It focuses on real-life uses of OSM for an individual (although I also sneak in other uses of OSM);
- Audiences have been coming up with similar use cases where OSM could help them - speed cameras, solar panels, benches, trash cans, nursing rooms, schools for children with special needs…
I’ve also been focusing on talking with energy, and avoiding pauses. (Lowkey trying to channel my theatre acting experience.)
I hope it inspires people to start using and improving OpenStreetMap…and to maybe also pick up those lifestyle choices, which may be unusual, but not as “weird” as my clickbait title claims 🤭
Here are the slides. It’s still a work in progress, though… https://codeberg.org/contrapunctus/osm-presentations/
