Trying to create trust today and struggling to figure out how. It's interesting when I consider metadata, social media, and now the Content Credentials / Content Authenticity Initiatve. Let's say I buy a Leica M11-D (Swooon!) with all its content credential features.
I set it up with my name. I set it up with geolocation on (which is problematic for security in some cases, and environmental reasons in others). Now I take a photo and perhaps I share it. Depending on where and how I share it we may actually see the Credentials (I am hopeful that #mastodon #Pixelfed and other #Fediverse organizations will be at the forefront of such efforts like they are with alt text).
But what stops me from printing an artificially generated image. I bring it to that same geolocation. I take a photo of it.
Both are now verified despite fraud.
Am I missing something? What prevents this?

I am looking for a free provider of #x509 #certificates for use with #CAI #ContentAuthenticityInitiative #C2PA #ContentCredentials. #Adobe and #PixelStream seem to offer this #service, but not for #free. Basicalky something like #LetsEncrypt, only for #images.
