Harvested my first ever chard today, and this picture doesn't capture the brightness of the red. I'm very happy with how well it grows in pots on an apartment balcony.
A second mega shiso haul this year! Had to harvest it before it crisped in this nasty heat wave. It had flowered, so I’m hoping for some self-sown next year. It’s been steeped, sugared and will turn into more cordial with a cup of vinegar tomorrow when I have more energy - this is a hit with family and friends here, more so than my usual orange/lemon.
And a handful of juicy baby nashi (we left too many on the trees), and a couple of eggplants, destined for a balsamic and basil marinade.
I haven't been harvesting my lettuce like I should have, and in the last two days it went wild. I think it's technically called bolting? Anyway, I need to go with a different variety next time I plant lettuce. This isn't the right kind for planners like this.
Also... so. many. cucumbers!
Almost there... just waiting for it to turn yellow.
Mum’s gladioli has flowered, and this time it is huuuuuuge. It’s nigh impossible to balance a vase with a single gladdy.
