The park next door installed a neighborhood compost system handled by the city.

People use it a lot and every now and then we get the compst from them.

I signed up with their mailing list to get a message when it's available, because last time I almost missed it.

Went for a walk with Mellie and brought a 20L bag with me. Filled it up and brought it home.

Mixed half of it with 10L of coco peat and used the most of the other half on my tomato pots.

Still have some left.

I really like #compost. It smells so good and gives a boost to plants almost immediately.

I'm so anxious to see how these black tomatoes turn out.

I've been waiting patiently for them to be ready and TBH have no idea how to see it, I just touch them to see if they are soft, but they are all solid Iike a rock.

I've about 30-40 of them , from walnut to green bean size and they seem to stay at walnut size and don't grow any bigger.

Watering it with a 1L milk bottle (have a small hole in it), twice a day and it seems to be healthy and growing taller and have new flowers.

Didn't realize that the drain holes of this bucket were all blocked and the roots of my tomato were choking.

Even after opening up the holes and getting rid of excess water, it did not recover.

I'm hoping that it might come back later and waiting for these tomatoes to rip.

Stop Buying $6 Berries: The Window-Ledge Strawberry Cheat Sheet

The 10-Second Blueprint: The Plant: Day-Neutral or Alpine starts (not June-bearing). The Spot: Deck rail or windowsill with 6+ hours of direct sun. The Rule: Keep the central woody crown flush with the soil line, or it rots. You don’t need a backyard, heavy tools, or a massive budget to grow your own fruit. If you have a window ledge or a deck railing, you have all the real estate required to harvest sweet, fresh strawberries all summer. Here is the exact, fluff-free blueprint to get […]

Today's harvest from the balcony.

Accidentally broke a branch of the cherry tomato and have a bunch of green ones on my hand..

Still can't harvest the black tomatoes. They are not ready.

This is the second batch of jalapenos, these are from the hydroponic unit.

Many years ago, when I was on Facebook, I asked people about tips to limit the damages caused by bugs when growing strawberries.

One of the best tips was too plant leak and garlic in between the strawberry plants.

I have been doing it for years now and I've not bought any garlic for over 3 years now (I don't use it much anyway).

Today, I picked up another fully grown garlic from the balcony planter.

Los poblanos en mi jardín están creciendo mucho! Pero se parecen diferentes, no? Una planta con chilis normales y la otra con pimientos mas redondos.

Look what landed on my arm today. While working on my balcony garden, I felt this on my arm, at first I thought it's worm, but then I saw it.

It's a baby praying mantis.

It's so tiny (4-6mm) and so fragile. Put it on one my plants that has a few aphids on it so it can have a fiest.

I feel so lucky. They are really rare here.

Oh happy day...

Finally got to pick some tomatoes.

Already ate one and going to use the rest in a smårgos with feta cheese, ham and lettuce.

I forgot how delicious homegrown tomatoes are, compared to store bought. I'm going to have enough tomatoes for the whole summer.

I may have to put couple of them in 20L sack of soil as they need more root space.
