RANDY ROBERTS on Instagram: "Becoming will be more entertaining than consuming. Here’s my full thesis. Right now, our entire entertainment model is built on letting you bypass personal growth. You sit down, watch someone else’s hero’s journey, feel the catharsis, and walk away unchanged. Consumption gives you the emotional signature of transformation without any of the actual transformation. But we’re building technology that is collapsing the distance between thought and thing. The latency between imagining something and seeing it rendered in front of you is approaching zero. AI can already take a vague idea and give you back a finished version in seconds. Two things happen when that gap closes: First, you need to be extremely clear about what you actually want. If you can manifest anything instantly but you don’t know what you want, you drown in a depth of imagination. Clarity becomes the most valuable skill you can have. Second, seeing your wildest ideas come true on demand gets stale fast. When the creation loop has no friction, the novelty wears off. The only thing left that still feels like something is genuine personal change. Actually becoming different. Actually growing. I think this is a massive opportunity for us as a species. We can use this technology not just to create things, but to improve ourselves — collectively and individually. There are enormous engineering challenges to get right, but keeping that loop between creation and becoming in frame is the most important design problem of this era. That’s my thesis: in the future, becoming will be more entertaining than consuming. If you disagree, tell me why."

Is Australia serious about reducing road trauma?
Australians want giant fuel guzzling cars risking the life of other beings

"As we head for a fifth consecutive year of rising road deaths and what could be the worst year for pedestrian fatalities in nearly two decades, it’s time to look more closely at what this means."

"Evidence from multiple countries suggests driving larger vehicles may lead to more confident or risk-prone behaviour."

Australia’s roads are full of giant cars, and everyone pays the price. What can be done?

If larger vehicles make us feel safer inside them, do they also make us take more risks behind the wheel?

The accumulated waste of mass consumption are decaying in landfills.

The chemicals those goods were drenched in – lead, mercury, cadmium, PFAS, PCBs – are seeping slowly out into water, soil and air.
