What's that you say? I don't need another project?
You're not wrong. And also, that's not stopping me.
I wasn't even sure you could boot a PSP without a battery before now, but definitely works.
Slightly surprised by the outcome. The bashed-in PSP-2001 boots fine and everything seems to work. The mostly-fine PSP-3001 has a cracked LCD and you can't tell if it's booting.

"There's your problem, right there."
Hello Fediverse friends.
This one is a bit embarrassing for me but I post my mistales as well as my wins.
A viewer sent me a Sega Game Gear as a parts-only donor. It had already been recapped, but it still wouldn’t power on.
Part 1 is teardown + diagnosis. I clean up old electrolyte, inspect the previous work, and start tracking the real fault. No miracle fix yet, but we do find a solid lead for Part 2? Maybe?

Thanks to @iFixit who very kindly sent me some new tools for the cabin.

Retooting is always appreciated (but never expected) :)

Broken joystick on Power Clutch SG
Hi, I have an Power Clutch SG by Asciiware (also known as the Sega Mega Stick), a controller for the Sega Mega Drive. It’s one of my favorite controllers. Picture of an ASCiiWARE Power Clutch SG [https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/01b033b1-6904-4267-824c-7deafd34f91d.png] Unfortunately my son dropped it a few years ago and snapped the joystick clean off. I have disassembled and removed the joystick. The snap is clean and the 2 parts fit together neatly. I’m looking for the best way to fix this. The joystick itself has no aftermarket alternatives as far as I can find, and buying another one of these to harvest the stick itself is an exercise in futilty as it would leave the other unit without a stick. The big question is, what adhesive brand/type is best to bond these 2 parts together again? Especially considering the stress this might have to endure. Anyone know if those DS Lite replacement touch screens on Amazon are any good? Mine is a little scratched but works quite well. The only "problem" I have with it right now is a slight scraping sound when I drag the stylus in some games. I wonder if it's feasible to get a good replacement. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D3RSJS3
