I endorse every word of this Virginian's quoted message about the #Confederate States of America. It was about #slavery, full stop.

After the #BattleOfFortPillow in TN, #Confederate soldiers under #NathanBedfordForrest — who later founded the first #KuKluxKlan — slaughtered over 500 #Union troops who had surrendered, #ThisDayInHistory in 1864, shouting "#NoQuarter!" Many of the soldiers butchered were #Black.
