Is it possible to do an objective comparison of Telegrams in house encryption protocol? How does it stack up against existing protocols and libraries? Are they better in some way or not? Are they lacking and if yes how are they lacking.

@edwardk Telegram popularity has two other reasons. Firstly Telegram is not listening and harvesting everything that its users do on their devices. Secondly Telegram servers are out of US Jurisdiction. That gives some measure of comfort to many.
