The #commencementorder which brings it into effect is the "The Charities Act 2022 (Commencement No. 4 and Saving Provision) Regulations 2025".

It is a #Statutory Instrument, SI1191 of 2925, signed by the minister #StephaniePeacock MP: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2025/1191/schedule/made.

Its Schedule lists 16 museums which Labour has banned from returning #CulturalLoot.

The Charities Act 2022 (Commencement No. 4 and Saving Provision) Regulations 2025

These Regulations are the fourth set of commencement regulations made under the Charities Act 2022 (c. 6) (“the 2022 Act”).

And he has decided to go after a government that was elected in democratic elections only a month ago in an important country - though perhaps no longer one of the first rank - namely the #uk . Perhaps to scare it off implementation of parts of the #onlinesafetyact that are awaiting a #commencementorder ? If so he may have misjudged quite badly.

Further clarification on this. Although the #onlinesafetyact received royal assent during the previous parliament some of its provisions are not yet in force - awaiting what is known as a #commencementorder - which is a form of delegated/secondary legislation. These include #criminalliability of those responsible for #onlineplatforms . Recall of parliament might enable such an order to be made earlier than previously planned .
