Bryn JonesThey were taken with a 135mm focal-length telephoto lens on a digital SLR camera (at f/2.8). Last night's was a 20 sec exposure (one of a sequence I haven't had time to reduce yet).
Last night's image also shows two star clusters. NGC 6633 is the group of stars at the top, and IC 4756 is to the upper left of the comet. Both are open star clusters.
The sky was clear last night and I was able to image Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, which has faded greatly over the past few weeks.
On the left, Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS imaged yesterday evening (Thursday, 8th November), the first clear evening in three weeks.
On the right, the comet with the same lens the previous clear night (17th October).
The images show how much the comet has faded and reduced in angular size over three weeks.
