A brand new flower in the yard and one I’ve been waiting on for a couple years: Aquilegia barnebyi!
With the common name Oil Shale Columbine, this plant only grows on sheets of the rock it takes its name from in western Colorado and eastern Utah. Plants are relatively small and range in color from almost entirely pale yellow to yellow petals and bright pink-red sepals. My individual here obviously leans toward the yellow side of things. Much like the grahamii it sits next to this is not a commonly seen species in cultivation.
