It's Saint Patrick's feast day.

I would post a history post, but since my speciality is #ColonialHistory... I'd really stretch that to try to apply it to Patrick.

I mean, I guess as Patrick was a Roman citizen from Britannia province converting Irish folk to Christianity I totally could...

But nah. People might get all religiously annoyed at me. 😨

I bought a historical atlas (for the princely sum of £3) of ancient political maps.

It's awesome, especially it's maps of Europe, Asia and the pre-Columbian Americas.

What SUCKS tho, is Africa, Australia and New Zealand are just white "unclaimed lands" until the mustachioed white dudes in silly hats arrived to Maxim gun in some borders.

Yeaaaaah... no.

It's no good, I need to find better maps of these areas (and I'm now quite critical of the American ones). 😒

One of my favourite subjects is pre-Columbian contact between the Americas and the rest of the world (do feel free to ask this colonial history geek about that).

This 1st Century Roman mosaic from Pompeii caused me quite a lot of mental anguish until @CottonCandyandRazorblades pointed out the damn "pineapple" (Ananas comosus) is actually a celeriac (Apium graveolens).
