I'm neither #American, nor #Italian, but even if I were both, I would not want anything to do with this "#holiday," ESPECIALLY now that it has HIS "endorsement."

The ONE consistency Trump has shown is #evilness. He is incapable of doing the right thing even if he benefits from it. #NewYorkers should take this as a sign.

Trump says he's bringing back Columbus Day, but it never went anywhere

Columbus Day is still a federal holiday, though Indigenous Peoples Day has replaced it in over 100 cities and multiple states as of last year.

When it is offered to them, they seize it.” Truth has been at least as important as law in the shift of status of indigenous Americans, for even the legal gains seem to be built on a foundation of changed imagination and rewritten history. Columbus Day became an occasion to rethink the past, and rethinking the past opened the way to a different future.

Rebecca Solnit on hope and history

Soon after the latest Iraq war began in March 2003 and the antiwar movement finally packed its bags and went home in despair, I received an email at my Tomdispatch e-box from Rebecca Solnit. She

Talking shit about people not voting for you while you burn children alive in a genocide is absolutely picturesque America at its core.
Butterflies have more self-awareness than these deranged husk. Being a genocidal monster was baked into #America before this country even existed. Before the bread even made it into the oven, white people were setting others on fire for sport. Not a damn thing has changed.
