The #Fediverse - traditional structures are dead ends for this community.

If money is involved, you do get people - but usually the wrong incentives, the wrong dynamics, and the wrong outcomes.

Without money, in an era of #stupidindividualism, cooperation and voluntarism look like “nothing to gain”, so participation drops off or fragments.

That’s the mess we’re in: money distorts, but absence of money doesn’t produce collective action anymore.

So the real question for the #openweb and #OMN is how we rebuild meaningful reasons to cooperate that aren’t based on cash, but also aren’t captured by institutional or #dotcons logic.

This includes 24 administrators, 3 arbitrators, and many frequent contributors. Along with a couple people, like me, who are none of those things but signed on anyway.
