thinking about a desktop documentary as a project for this upcoming year. also something collaborative with people from fedi who would like to work on an art project.
this format caught my attention immediately when discovering Machines in Flames (2022) https://videos.parleur.net/w/3BZujYsBZNdCCtZj7GY6FN , have been admiring some drafts I got to see that came out at the end of a few art residencies from small art practitioners/art students that have shown them during events around here (but did not realize it was a thing then) ,
and been down a bit of a rabbit hole these past days (the post featuring "Safari(Browser)_The_Nature_ofmy_Computer.mov" from a few days ago)
also, it might (it seems from here anyway) be one thing I could do with the (limited) means available to me right now

Je souhaite expérimenter #journaldeterrain pour questionner la recherche en train de se faire.
Que reste t-il à la fin des projets des premières impressions, des premières photographies ? Qu’oublie t -on ? Que met-on en valeur ? 
À l’instar du journal de terrain ethnographique, il s’agira d’écrire, de décrire au jour le jour les impressions et les remarques des projets menés. 
C’est aussi l’occasion d’expérimenter un journal en ligne, et d’expérimenter une autre forme qui puisse être dialoguiste. Tant pour documenter la recherche qui se fait, que pour construire un journal public, discutable avec ceux et celles avec lesquelles je travaille.

I'd like to experiment with #journaldeterrain to explore research in progress.
What remains at the end of a project, the first impressions, the first photographs? What do we forget? What do we highlight? 
Like the ethnographic field diary, the aim is to write down impressions and observations of the projects from day to day. 
It's also an opportunity to experiment with an online journal, and to try out another form of dialogue. Both to document the research being conducted, and to build a public journal that can be discussed with those I work with.

[journal de terrain, Longwy, semaine 3] Se perdre, vous retrouver. 
J’ai rendez-vous à 14h avec l’association ARPA. Après 20 minutes à chercher un chemin entre les remparts, bloquée à Longwy Haut, je retourne sur mes pas. 
Je croise une voiture avec un couple à l’intérieur. Je leur demande comment passer les remparts. 
Très gentils, ils me proposent de me déposer car ils vont dans le même quartier que moi. 
En discutant durant le chemin, nous nous rendons compte que nous avons rendez vous ensemble pour nous rencontrer ! 
Merci pour votre belle générosité et sympathie ! Merci également à l’association ARPA qui m’a accueillie, et deux heures durant, m’a raconté de beaux souvenirs, témoignages et de belles histoires sur Longwy. Et surtout, merci pour votre aide et votre soutien, car grâce à vous, nous aurons la chance d’écouter encore plein de ces histoires

[field note, Longwy: day 3] Getting lost, finding yourself.
I have an appointment at 2:00 PM with the ARPA association. After 20 minutes searching for a path between the ramparts, stuck in Longwy Haut, I retrace my steps.
I come across a car with a couple inside. I ask them how to get past the ramparts.
Very kind, they offer to drop me off since they’re heading to the same neighborhood.
As we chat along the way, we realize we have the same appointment to meet each other!
Thank you for your wonderful generosity and kindness! A big thank you also to the ARPA association, who welcomed me and spent two hours sharing beautiful memories, testimonies, and stories about Longwy. And above all, thank you for your help and support, because thanks to you, we’ll have the chance to hear many more of these stories.
