Hi Mastodon,

My wonderful master's student is presenting his first conference poster soon. What tips do you like to give to first timers?

We discussed having a 3-min pitch prepared, as people often just ask "So, talk me through your poster", and how to tailor the pitch to the asker. We also talked about practising the pitch before finalising the design, because it can help highlight which display items you rely on. Any more you'd suggest?

A couple examples of how affected individuals fared when confronted with photos of objects & asked to name them. Lots of struggling & pauses. #MedTwitter
